25 YEARS OF MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES
The “Flora” Hotel was known for its elegance since its opening, with its modern architecture, exquisite furnishings and beautiful uniforms. Situated in a generous park of approximately 40,000 square meters, the hotel complex spread over a built area of more than 18,000 square meters, meeting the highest standards of the time.

Between 1990 and 1996, the hotel was under state management. In 1996 it was taken over by Ana Hotels, which undertook a complete renovation.

The modernization works started in January 1997 and were completed in April 1998, representing a significant investment of 100 billion old lei. Considerable efforts were made to bring the hotel up to the level of the 1990s, but oriented to 21st century standards. The official opening of the new hotel took place on December 10, 1998.

After the renovation, the hotel was equipped with 165 rooms (328 seats), 8 conference rooms with a capacity of up to 200 seats, a restaurant with international cuisine, brasserie, bar and café, offering a wide range of recreational services. The hotel has been transformed from a spa hotel into a business hotel.

The hotel was operated through a management contract with Bass Hotels & Resorts, later Six Continents, later Intercontinental Hotels Group. On December 4, 1998, the management contract was signed, under which the hotel would operate for the next ten years.

The successful transformation was decisive for the collaboration with the large InterContinental chain. The “Flora” hotel has reopened under the “Crowne Plaza” brand, achieving a 5-star classification. “Crowne Plaza Bucharest” was one of the first hotels that, after 1990, started to be part of prestigious international chains; another example was “InterContinental Athénée Palace”; both are now part of Ana Hotels, representing outstanding projects.
